What are you doing these days?
I am on tour doing a lot of talking shows.

What turns you on creatively?
Travel. The constant unfamiliarity is good to get the mind working. Sleep depreivation is also good.

If you were a mind-reader whose mind would you like to read?
Dick Cheney’s.

If you could travel in time, which era would you visit?
Classic Jazz era so I could see Charlie Parker.

What is your favorite sound?
Rain.

What is the album or song that influences you the most?
Fun House by The Stooges to me is the ultimate Rock album and still inspires me.

Who would you like to collaborate with? And why?
No one comes to mind. I am used to working on my own and don’t really think of collaborative efforts at this point.

What drives you crazy?
Liars, cowards.

What makes you laugh?
I guess things that are funny.

What is the first song you ever written?
I wrote a song in highschool called Go North about leaving my hometown and going to Alaska.

If you had 3 wishes what would they be?
I have often thought of what they would be and always come to the conclusion that things need to be the way they are and that if you changed something, other things would suffer. I sometimes wish dead friends were still alive or that things had been different for me at one time or another but ultimately, you usually end up where you are by a steady effort and you only have yourself to blame. So, I would rather work for results than get wishes granted.

What is the craziest thing you ever did?
Get into the entertainment business.

What makes you feel embarrassed?
Compliments.

What are your favorite web-sites (not including the ones that you are participate in)?
Ebay.

What is the silliest thing you have ever done?
Convince myself that I should be onstage in front of people.

How would you make the world a better place?
End the Republican Party in America.

What is your biggest weakness?
I am easily angered.

Where will you be in 10 years?
I would like to think I could still be touring.

Henry Rollins a is singer-songwriter, spoken-word artist, writer, actor and is currently on his Frequent Flyer Tour.

  1. Project of Love From the Fans of Henry Rollins

    Thanks to Hank
WANTED: Personal stories from the fans, a.k.a, ‘fanatics’, of Henry Rollins. If Henry Rollins has moved you, inspired you to reach higher, helped you in some way, or just makes your life better by way of knowing he is out there, living art and inspiration, and you are willing to share your story in a future publication of Fanatic Stories of Thanks to Hank, please send your story!

The target goal is to complete the project by February of 2011, Henry’s 50th birthday. All potential proceeds will go to the charity of Henry’s choice.

Fanatic and novice writer, Angela Bennett, commented on the project, “Henry has made such a profound contribution to the lives of many thousands, perhaps even millions of people around the world. He is an inspiration to so many people regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic class. This is an opportunity for fanatics to share their stories with, and thank Henry.” During the first month of this project, fans and media are responding from across the world; from 15 year olds to 50 year olds, from the U.S. to Australia.
It’s one thing to be a fan of a band, or an actor, but often it’s about more than that when it comes to Henry. Henry moves people, he is a catalyst in people’s lives. There’s a quote from The Gift: Imagination and the Erotic Life of Property, by Lewis Hyde, that captures Henry well, “…the gift we long for, the gift that, when it comes, speaks commandingly to the soul and irresistibly moves us.”

People can contact Angela Bennett with stories, or artwork, at bennettangela@rogers.com, through the Facebook Group, Henry Rollins – Thanks to Hank Project, or http://open.salon.com/blog/angelalala. Angela does not work for, or represent Henry Rollins, other than being one of many grateful fanatics in the global neighbourhood.
