What are you doing these days?
Slowly descending off the Grammy celebration clouds, and are starting to work on new ideas for music videos and pitching some pretty cool commercial spots.
We have just signed with a new commercial production company here in New York and are hoping to work on all kinds of exciting stuff this coming year.
I’m also eating soup.

What is the event that influenced you the most?
I’m possibly misinterpreting it, but let’s see: my birth, my parents leaving Russia in 1990s, meeting many wonderful people throughout my life, moving to New York, Dan and I starting Aggressive.. the list goes on?

What turns you on creatively?
Nature, People, Art, Music, Literature, Traveling…

What is your favorite sound?
The opening riff of Slayer‘s “raining blood“! Just kidding.. Any sound that proves life.

What is your first creation ?
A really cool gouache painting of an evil witch from a fairy tale I have conceived at the age of 4.

If you were a mind-reader whose mind would you like to read?
That would be unethical! Plus, can you imagine what kind of terrible things we’d find out about everybody?

What is the picture that influenced you the most ?
Bruegel‘s “Hunters in the Snow”

If you could travel in time, which era would you visit?
I’d be particularly interested in taking a look at what will be going on about 20-30 years from now, luckily I might not need a time machine for that.

What is the sentence that changed your life?
No particular phrases, just a lot of very good books.

What is the album or song that influences you the most?
Too many to list.

Who would you like to collaborate with? And why?
Any band or musician that I personally love and who’s music is dear to me.. there is a number of Israeli, Russian and Western artists whom I’m dying to work with.

What drives you crazy?
The lack of character amidst the people of this century, which is mostly noticeable via the absence of spirit and good taste.

What makes you laugh?
Yesterday I watched “Tropic Thunder“, it’s hilarious, particularly if you have personally witnessed the “behind the scenes” of “making movies”

What makes you feel embarrassed?
Nothing?

What is the silliest thing you have ever done?
Been in what is commonly refereed to as a “long distance relationship” for 8 years. Luckily, that’s also one of the greatest things I’ve done.

How would you make the world a better place?
You wouldn’t publish something so “politically incorrect”.

If you had 3 wishes what would they be?
Health, Eternal Life and World Domination!

What is your biggest weakness?
A  hereditary sense of decency.

Where will you be in 10 years?
Hopefully somewhere nice.

Alex Topaller is an israeli filmmaker that lives in the u.s.a. recently, a music video that he directed (Juanes – Me Enamora) won the latin grammy award. Topaller is running “aggressive” studio with his partner, Dan Shapiro.
